WHAT'S THE KEY ADVANTAGE OF THIS NEW PRODUCT?
This new SCR offers the highest average current per volume unit (27A per cubic cm, or 440A per cubic inch) at the lowest cost per amp (6 to 7 cents per amp, depending on quantities). Not enough yet to attract your interest? Then you may also consider all the extra side advantages offered by this SCR: more compact and cost effective clamps; lighter, smaller and therefore less expensive aluminum heatsinks; reduced overall volume and weight of the whole converter, which means higher design freedom and lower cost of the cabinet metal frame. Our experience is that all these extra advantages combined can be more valuable than the already significant cost saving on the SCR puk price alone.
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING SPECIAL TO BE USED?
Just check the data sheet for the correct design of the cooling system. Ask GPS for the ideal companion clamp that better fits your specific application. For what concerns the gate drive, we suggest the use of our field proven GT0001 pulse transformer module. Quite soon we shall introduce also a gate drive board that will make the design in of this SCR even easier
